newcleo is a clean and safe nuclear technology company. Privately funded and headquartered in London, UK, newcleo was launched in 2021 to be a disruptor in the field of nuclear energy. Its mission is to generate safe, clean, economic and inexhaustible energy for the world, through a radically innovative combination of existing, accessible technologies.

newcleo is building the next generation system with the goals to:

  1. eliminate the need for geological repositories by using a fast neutron flux avoiding the production of long life radioactive elements;
  2. accelerate the development of new fuel cycles, including MOX (Mixed Pu-U Oxides) and eventually thorium, that provide clean, safe and inexhaustible energy from nuclei and the opportunity to burn the long-lived nuclear waste produced by the old generation of nuclear reactors;
  3. ultimately develop an Accelerator Driven System (ADS), based on the intrinsically safe coupling of a particle accelerator and a sub-critical reactor.

With visionary co-founders, newcleo brings together an international team of senior engineers with deep knowledge of nuclear energy and new recruits with a fresh mindset, working to develop designs based on innovative Lead-cooled Fast Reactors (LFRs). These LFRs will meet the commercial demand for small terrestrial waste-to-energy reactors.

In the UK, newcleo’s immediate focus is on delivering a prototype 30MWe LFR by 2030 followed by an initial battery of 4-6 x 200MWe reactors with deployment in the early 2030s. We are building our team to meet this challenging and exciting objective.

ERP Project Manager

Job Description

Working across multiple entities the role will ensure the highest standards in maintaining and updating the finance systems and associated processes to meet organisational requirements, assist with training, and overseeing arrangements for systems administration.

Main Activities

  • Solid understanding in relation to ERP systems (ours will be NetSuite) and key point of contact for Finance Team in relation to systems enquiries
  • Assisting with new user training on financial systems
  • Supporting the identification and delivery of end-user training requirements, in relation to the ERP system and associated reporting tool
  • Ensuring system administration arrangements are in line with delegated authorities and providing an effective control environment automation with financial guidance
  • Developing best practice and ensuring consistency in finance system processes across all teams and entities
  • Maintaining up-to-date documentation of financial processes, including internal user guides
  • Attending system user groups and contributing to the discussions of arising opportunities and risks
  • Providing support to end-users in the development and testing or reports
  • Supporting finance system upgrades, notably in completing system testing and managing user acceptance testing programme
  • Working with key teams to review, design and document finance system workflows
  • Contributing to developing solutions to improve/automate financial process
  • Helping the teams evaluate, design, plan, implement and test new requirements

Experience / Professional requirements

  • Qualified accounting background
  • A business partner with interpersonal skills who can interact and gain support from various stakeholders
  • Solid experience operating and improving financial systems
  • Experience of successfully integrating finance systems with other in-house systems
  • An understanding of financial controls and reflecting these through workflows and controls in finance systems
  • Solid information technology skills including advanced Excel and a good understanding of databases, data uploads, extraction, and interfaces with other systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and critical reasoning skills
  • Ability to identify innovative yet practical solutions to complex problems
  • Keen to suggest improvement to current ways of working
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and tasks
  • Open and flexible to the changing demands of the organisation
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • SQL or similar knowledge would be advantageous
  • French, Italian language desired but no essential
