R&D Manager – Codes & Methods
Job Description
To collaborate to the planning, design and development of new and existing computer codes used for the calculation of lead-cooled fast nuclear reactors. The Developer will work directly on the solution methods and on the numerical implementation proposing advanced solutions to achieve high-performance computing. The role of this position contributes to the company’s objectives in the field of advanced reactor physics and methods.
Main Activities
- Participate in individual and collaborative research projects and support new research programs
- Deploying, tuning, and performance optimization of complex software
- Testing and benchmarking of new code components and algorithms
- Reverse engineering for algorithm comprehension and code refactoring of legacy code
- Research on advanced numerical algorithms for high-performance computing
- Scientific communication and participation to international meetings
Key Performance Indicators
Timely management of key deliverables and tasks respecting deadlines with high quality output.
Ideal Background
Education
Master’s Degree in Mathematical Sciences, Computational
Physics and Informatics, or Nuclear Engineering
PhD is requested for this position
Languages
Fluent English, with Italian or French as optional languages
Experience / Professional requirements
- proficiency in C/C++, FORTRAN, and Python programming on posix-compliant OS
- knowledge of computational techniques, numerical methods, and data analysis
- knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence (optional)
- experience with software Verification and Validation (V&V) approaches
- analytical and problem-solving skills
- demonstrated skills in scientific and technical editing by LaTeX
